Your impact as a Road Safety Engineer within our Aviation, Rail and Technology group will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality infrastructure solutions across the UK and internationally. With a strong foundation in health, safety, and environmental legislation, you will bring technical excellence to every stage of design—ensuring that operational safety reviews, road safety audits, risk assessments, and governance processes meet the highest standards.
You will actively promote a culture of safety aligned with Jacobs’ values, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and engaging with clients and stakeholders to deliver outcomes that prioritise wellbeing and sustainability. Your attention to detail and proactive mindset will help shape safer transport networks and contribute to the continuous improvement of our safety practices.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver road safety audits and reviews in line with national and international standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues and clients to ensure safety is embedded throughout project lifecycles.
- Support the growth of our road safety capability, particularly in the South-East of England and the Middle East.
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across teams.
- Work flexibly, with opportunities for internal transfers and full support for training and audit qualifications.
Jacobs’ Transportation team is recognised for delivering high-profile projects for clients including Hertfordshire, Essex, and Kent councils, as well as Transport Infrastructure Ireland, HS2 Ltd, and numerous Local Authorities. You will be part of a team known for excellence in design, sustainability, safety, and collaboration—making a meaningful impact on communities and infrastructure worldwide.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Experience in road safety engineering and carrying out road safety audits, operational safety reviews, safety risk assessments, collision analysis and investigation.
- DMRB GG119 Certificate of Competence and current compliance with DMRB GG119 as Audit Team Leader or Member.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Good understanding and working knowledge of using design standards.
- Membership of a relevant recognised industry Institute / Institution and ability to demonstrate eligibility to work towards obtaining Incorporated Engineer (IEng) Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration if not already registered.
- Full UK driving licence.
