About the role

This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence projects from feasibility through to construction and operation, working across diverse electrical assets to create cost‑effective, high‑quality solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical Engineering Excellence: Serve as the subject‑matter expert on multidisciplinary projects, delivering electrical solutions that meet and exceed client and regulatory requirements.
  • Requirement Management: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver design solutions that meet contract‑specific KPIs.
  • Innovation & Value Engineering: Participate in value engineering and buildability workshops to propose sustainable, innovative design improvements for water infrastructure.
  • Design & Specification: Develop detailed electrical designs, drawings, and specifications for pumping stations, treatment plants and distribution networks.
  • Quality, Safety & Governance: Ensure all designs comply with regulatory and safety standards, embedding constructability and commissioning requirements into the design.
  • Technical Analysis: Investigate and analyse existing assets, recommend improvements, and perform complex calculations as required.
  • Collaboration: Support project engineers, design managers and on‑site delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Project Management: Contribute to design management, scheduling, milestone delivery, risk management, change control and financial forecasting.
  • Team & Culture: Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, mentoring and professional growth within the electrical discipline.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Progressive experience delivering detailed design and Design & Build solutions for water, wastewater and bioresources projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning and operations.
  • Proficiency with CAD and electrical design packages (AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, etc.).
  • Experience with water and/or wastewater treatment works, pumping station design and engineering.
  • Commercial awareness of project budgets, change management and cost control.
  • Working toward or holding chartered status (e.g., IET, IEEE or equivalent).
