Your impact: To support our ongoing business wins and future development aspirations, we have created a number of new career opportunities. In the role of Principal Fluvial Geomorphologist, you will be an integral part of the continued success of our Water Catchment Management team in the UK. Collaborating with our experienced market leading team of water specialists, hydrologists, geomorphologists, and hydro‑geologists, you will support the delivery of complex solutions and projects throughout their lifecycle covering a range of sectors/markets including water utilities, rivers, coastal, highways and energy.

Your remit will include:

  • Baseline watercourse characterisation and assessment of impacts from water company activities, flood risk management structures and other large infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and review of Water Environment EIAR chapters for major infrastructure and flood management projects across the UK and Ireland.
  • Develop, check, review and approve Biodiversity Net Gain assessments for watercourses and developing options for enhancements.
  • Develop concept solutions and designs for river restoration.
  • Facilitate the technical delivery of projects, in liaison with contractors and regulators.
  • Conduct and deliver field‑based solutions including hydrological surveys and monitoring.
  • Support and collaborate with multi‑disciplined catchment management teams.
  • Ensure the delivery of environmental deliverables and financial performance of projects.
  • Work in collaboration with design to ensure the overall integrity, governance and change management is in line with deliverables and milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with H&S regulations, promoting a culture of caring embedded throughout both the design and project delivery lifecycle.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Degree/MSc qualified in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Geography.
  • Chartered or keen to achieve Chartered status.
  • A track record in the delivery of technical reviews, environmental assessments and programme management.
  • An excellent understanding of key environmental legislation and policies.
  • Broad fieldwork experience: collecting sediment samples, surveying river channels, and monitoring coastal erosion.
  • GIS and remote sensing experience: mapping landforms, analysing LiDAR and satellite imagery.
  • Good knowledge of hydraulic and sediment transport analysis: river restoration and coastal.
  • Demonstrable experience of coastal habitat creation and erosion control.
