Role Overview

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to lead the future of water infrastructure, delivering high‑profile design and build programmes across the North West, including United Utilities' largest‑ever AMP8 programme.

Location

Manchester / Warrington, United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate technical reviews, assurance activities and design approvals.
  • Deliver robust and buildable civil engineering solutions across projects.
  • Champion Safety by Design and ensure designs meet relevant standards and requirements.
  • Support project planning, resource management and successful delivery.
  • Manage technical risks and coordinate design change activities.
  • Drive constructability, operability and innovation throughout the design process.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships while identifying opportunities for improvement and growth.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with ICE or equivalent professional institution.
  • Significant experience delivering detailed design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience working within Design & Build environments.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and provide senior technical leadership.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and client‑facing communication skills.
