Overview
As part of Jacobs’ Aviation, Rail and Technology Group within Electrical & Lighting Design, you will lead electrical and lighting design across infrastructure projects. You will work with cross‑functional teams to deliver feasibility, optioning, planning and detailed designs for highways, rail, aviation and local authority networks. You’ll manage reports, studies and contract documents while liaising with clients, authorities and contractors. This hybrid role offers flexibility and the chance to contribute to impactful infrastructure projects across the UK and beyond, shaping safer, smarter environments. Responsibilities
- Technical lead on electrical & lighting projects
- Prepare lighting and electrical designs at feasibility, optioneering, planning and detailed design stages
- Programme and cost monitoring
- Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, designs, specifications and contract documents
- Conduct detailed daytime and nighttime surveys
- Support Environmental Impact Assessment, Economic Assessment and Business Case reports
- Liaise with clients, electricity suppliers, contractors, professional organisations, sub-consultants and other design teams
Key requirements
- Experience of designing to British lighting and electrical standards (BS5489, BSEN 13201, BS7671)
- Experience liaising with clients, stakeholders and local authorities
- Knowledge of trunk and local roads requirements
- Strong communication and ability to build technical credibility with clients
- Technical report writing skills
- Proficiency in lighting and electrical design calculation software
