Your impact

  • From small to large scale turnkey projects – pipe jacking through to complex underground caverns, utilising techniques such as empirical methods and 3D FE analysis (both structural and geotechnical), as an integral part of the team you will work with both internal and external clients delivering subject matter expert solutions.

Remit of the role will include

  • Providing tunnelling leadership and direction to multi‑disciplinary project teams.
  • Ensuring the completion of projects and packages of work to agreed budgets and programme.
  • Fostering and building a collaborative culture with clients, colleagues and outside agencies.
  • Building effective working relationships with colleagues, customer stakeholders and outside agencies.
  • Identifying and utilising technological advances to improve quality, results and efficiency.
  • Expediting schemes from inception to design completion.
  • Quality control and checking deliverables.
  • Writing and producing technical reports.
  • Mentoring colleagues, aiding both personal and career development.

Here’s what you’ll need

  • Demonstrable expertise in Tunnel design.
  • MICE Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent).
  • Track record in the design for the design and build market.
  • Experience interfacing directly with clients and building collaborative relationships.
  • A sound academic and technical knowledge of civil/tunnel engineering.
  • Knowledge of relevant European codes and standards.
  • Proficient in software such as Plaxis, FLAC, MIDAS and/or SAP.
  • Team player but with an ability to work independently and manage small teams as required.
  • Planning & organisational skills.
  • Motivated to deliver high quality.
  • Commitment to professional and personal development.
