Your impact
As a Senior Design Highways Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering technical excellence, innovation, and safety across a wide range of transportation projects. You’ll take ownership of key design deliverables, identifying opportunities for automation and process efficiencies, and ensuring scope changes are escalated appropriately to maintain programme and budget integrity.
You’ll collaborate closely with discipline leads and project stakeholders to produce high-quality outcomes, while also mentoring and supporting less experienced team members—helping to build capability and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Deliver technical excellence, innovation, and safety across transportation projects.
- Take ownership of key design deliverables and identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
- Escalate scope changes to maintain programme and budget integrity.
- Collaborate with discipline leads and project stakeholders to produce high-quality outcomes.
- Mentor and support less experienced team members to build capability and foster continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Design experience in transportation and the built environment.
- Attained a relevant professional qualification, for example a degree in engineering, and CEng/ IEng or equivalent qualifications or work experience.
- Technical experience of delivering local and/or major highways projects or land-side alignment elements in adjacent markets such as Water, Aviation or Rail.
- Thorough understanding of commonly used design standards such as DMRB, MCHW or international equivalents.
- Sound knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and a passion for fostering safety and wellbeing.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a global multi-disciplinary team.
