Graduate Hydrogeologist (Birmingham, Reading, Manchester, London, Glasgow) – Jacobs in the UK.
Join the Jacobs Graduate Development Programme (GDP) and have a meaningful, positive impact on environments, communities and societies. The GDP is a structured two-year scheme designed to support your development at the start of your Jacobs career journey, combining blended learning, mentoring, progress reviews and networking. You will establish yourself across four focus areas: human skills, consulting skills, championing our strategy, and your passions. The programme can be customised to reflect your interests, career goals and technical skillset, creating a graduate experience unique to you. Much of the learning is on-the-job, guided by your manager and mentor, with opportunities to work on meaningful projects and collaborate with industry leaders.

About The Opportunity
Our Water and Environment Business Unit focuses on River Engineering and Flood Risk Management solutions, including flood defence structures, weirs, gates, sluices, flood storage reservoirs, natural flood management, habitat creation, hydrometric gauging facilities and fish passes. The Water Catchment Management team (over 400 staff in the UK and Europe, with reach into other regions) delivers sustainable environmental solutions across integrated catchment management projects for clients such as utilities/water companies, local authorities, Network Rail, National Highways, Environment Agency, SEPA, and other major infrastructure providers.
As a Graduate Hydrogeologist you will join a national team of hydrogeologists across the country, working across engineering hydrogeology, water resources and sustainability, land quality and remediation, environmental hydrogeology, permitting and legislation. Your workload will be varied, including projects such as assessing environmental flow targets through sustainable abstraction, designing pumping tests for groundwater control in excavations, groundwater impact assessments for wetlands/peatlands, and more. You will gain exposure to a wide range of projects, with support to develop in areas of your interest.
