What will you get? Our Graduate Development Programme is a structured two-year scheme designed to support your development at the start of your Jacobs career journey. Through a combination of blended learning, mentoring, progress reviews and networking, you will establish yourself as knowledgeable and competent across four key focus areas: human skills, consulting skills, champion our strategy and your passions. The Graduate Development Programme allows you to customise your learning journey to reflect your specific interests, career goals, and technical skillset - creating a graduate experience that is unique to you. The GDP is an experience programme, meaning that a large portion of what you'll learn will be on-the-job. You'll work with your manager and mentor to collect the learning experiences that will be most meaningful for you. The programme is more than just a steppingstone. It's a launchpad for your career, offering you the tools, experiences and support you need. About the opportunity: We take pride in delivering technically complex schemes across the UK and internationally. Our large and diverse Bridges team has earned an enviable reputation within the consultancy sector through a portfolio of high-profile projects with clients including High Speed 2, National Highways, Network Rail, Welsh Government, national contractors, and local authorities. As a graduate engineer, you'll be a key part of our transition to becoming a solutions provider – helping to transform how we deliver through the use of new technologies and lean, digital processes that increase efficiency and add value for our clients. With a strong focus on sustainability and decarbonisation, you'll develop your technical engineering, interpersonal and organisational skills while supporting the delivery of structural solutions across highways, rail, aviation and energy & power sectors.
You will be involved in the delivery of a range of bridge and structural projects, including:
- Structural analysis, feasibility studies, tender and detailed designs, and the production of contract documents and technical reports.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated services to clients.
- Applying diverse thinking to seek innovative solutions and deliver best value.
- Working with our UK and Global Integrated Delivery teams to ensure efficient and successful project outcomes.
As a new graduate within our Bridges team, you will have the opportunity to make your mark and influence the continuing growth of Jacobs. The start date for this position is September 2026.
Requirements:
- Be working towards a Master's level qualification in Civil Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering or Civil and Environmental Engineering.
- A flexible self-starter who is keen to drive your career forward.
- Adaptable to change, with a thirst for learning new things.
- You must have the permanent right to work in the UK.
