Jacobs is looking to recruit a Principal Power System Engineer to join our Future Energy & Power Systems team. You will support the growth of our activities across all areas of the power sector, including generation (thermal, renewables, and storage), transmission, distribution, and industrial systems. The role involves modelling and delivering a variety of power system studies for our major clients worldwide.
Technical Responsibilities
- Power system modelling and model verification.
- Feasibility studies (e.g., load flow, fault level analysis).
- Equipment performance specification.
- Grid Code compliance studies.
- Interconnection and impact assessments.
- Integrating low‑carbon technologies into network studies.
- Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) studies.
- Insulation coordination.
- Transient recovery voltage.
- Transient overvoltage.
- Lightning studies.
Project & Client Delivery
- Lead and deliver study activities from modelling through to reporting.
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports.
- Present technical findings in client meetings and discussions.
- Collaborate with teams across the UK and internationally.
Bids, Innovation & Business Growth
- Provide technical input and effort estimates for proposals.
- Support proposal development and client engagement.
- Develop innovation projects and secure funding through mechanisms such as the Network Innovation Allowance and Strategic Innovation Fund.
Requirements
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
- Membership of a recognised professional institution.
- Strong proficiency in power system modelling tools such as DIgSILENT, PSS/E, ETAP, and PSCAD.
- Experience in power systems, utility, and renewable energy projects.
