Overview
As Principal Electrical Engineer in Jacobs’ Building Services team, you lead the electrical design of complex building projects and mentor engineers. You’ll drive multidisciplinary delivery, ensure scope, time, cost and quality, and help win work through strong client engagement. You contribute to sustainability, innovation, and the growth of our UK buildings capability across sectors. This role offers leadership responsibilities, client-facing opportunities, and impact on high-profile developments in a collaborative, flexible environment.

Responsibilities
- Lead functional delivery of multidisciplinary projects to time, cost and quality
- Mentor and develop team members; support resource planning and continuous improvement
- Own planning, task prioritisation, and verification of calculations; ensure high-quality outputs
- Manage client communications and expectations; identify value-adding opportunities
- Represent Jacobs in client meetings and contribute to winning future work
- Support recruitment, budgeting, and policy development; contribute to strategic activities
Key requirements
- Proven project design experience in building services electrical engineering
- Degree in Building Services Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech; familiarity with building regulation compliance assessments
- MCIBSE / MIET CEng accreditation (or actively pursuing)
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations
- Experience in sustainable technology integration
- Proven project leadership and people management abilities
- Excellent technical skills and attention to detail; ability to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions in a multidisciplinary environment
