About the Role
Join Jacobs at a pivotal moment in the UK and Ireland water sector, where investment is at record levels and the opportunity to shape transformative infrastructure is real. As a Wastewater Modeller, your expertise will directly influence the success of major water programmes that improve communities and protect the environment. At Jacobs, you'll be part of a collaborative team working with the region's largest water companiesāfrom early feasibility and planning through to design, construction, and longāterm operations. Your modelling insights will help drive smarter, more sustainable solutions across England and Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Support technical delivery and assist the Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of robustly defined technical solutions.
- Apply experience in network hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM).
- Participate as part of a team on projects including model build and verification, using existing models to understand system performance.
- Optioneer and develop solutions for flooding and CSO drivers.
- Interact directly with client personnel, including faceātoāface progress meetings.
- Investigate, analyse and resolve drainage network issues.
- Scope network surveys to supplement model updates.
- Review and manage weekly contractor survey submissions.
- Build and maintain hydraulic models.
- Deliver technical reports and hydraulic modelling studies.
- Develop modelled engineering solutions to mitigate the effects of development, solve sewer flooding and address unsatisfactory overflows.
- Assist with preparation of cost estimates for modelling.
- Supervise site surveys and field investigations.
- Plan, programme, coordinate and write reports for specific projects.
- Provide guidance and support to graduate engineers or technicians.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in wastewater modelling software such as InfoAsset Manager and InfoWorks ICM.
- Working knowledge of GIS tools (MapInfo, ArcGIS).
- Ability to work to client specifications and industry standards.
- Demonstrable track record of technical achievement and client satisfaction within the water industry.
- Capability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal staff and external clients.
- Flexibility to multiātask and prioritise when necessary.
