As an Associate Director - Risk Management in Environment & Infrastructure, you’ll play a pivotal role in some of the UK’s largest, most technically complex infrastructure programmes.

Role Responsibilities
You’ll be trusted to:
- Shape critical strategic decisions on high-value construction and infrastructure projects — from highways and transport to energy, water and the environment
- Empower clients to make confident decisions by cutting through uncertainty with clear, evidence-based risk insight
- Lead from the front, developing tailored risk strategies, facilitating stakeholder workshops, and delivering robust QCRA and QSRA outputs
- Protect and unlock value — strengthening investment decisions while identifying opportunities for innovation, efficiency and growth

About The Opportunity
This is a senior, client-facing role for an experienced project risk professional from the built environment / infrastructure sector.
- Act as the strategic lead for risk and opportunity management, shaping, maintaining and evolving best-in-class frameworks across major projects and portfolios
- Lead qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, setting the standard for best practice across all project delivery stages. Hands-on experience delivering QCRA and QSRA is essential
- Be the go-to expert for risk and opportunity management, providing trusted advice and leadership to clients and internal teams
- Facilitate and lead risk workshops, reviews and assessments, ensuring risks and opportunities are identified, analysed, mitigated and monitored effectively
- Establish and maintain robust risk reporting and governance, enabling transparency, insight and accountability at senior leadership level
- Design and deliver training and engagement initiatives that embed a strong risk-aware culture across projects and organisations
- Develop and implement assurance processes to ensure consistent, effective application of risk management practices
- Contribute to project reviews, senior reporting and resource planning, supporting integrated delivery across multiple major programmes
Experience & Location
Experience in highways & transportation, energy & power, water & environment or similar infrastructure sectors will set you up for success. Location flexibility across London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol or Reading, with regular travel to UK client sites as required.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven experience in risk and opportunity management within the built environment / construction / infrastructure sector
- Strong track record delivering risk management on projects, programmes or major capital schemes
- Recognised risk qualification such as IRM Diploma, PMI-RMP, MoR Practitioner, APM Risk Practitioner (Level 2) or equivalent
- Hands-on experience delivering QCRA and QSRA
- Strong communication skills, a proactive mindset and a practical, solutions-focused approach as this is a client-facing role
- Flexibility to travel regularly and stay away overnight where necessary
- Practical expertise using risk tools such as Safran, Oracle PRA, @Risk, ARM, Predict, Risk Hive or similar
- Experience building and embedding risk frameworks, governance models and reporting mechanisms
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Analytical degree (essential) in Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management or similar
Desirable
- Project management qualification (PMP, AMP-PMQ, PRINCE2)
- Knowledge of recognised standards including ISO 31000, COSO ERM, APM PRAM
- Corporate membership of IRM, APM, PMI or similar
- Experience with NEC contracts, PMO, programme controls or major project environments is advantageous
Important
This role is not suitable for candidates whose risk experience is limited to financial, commercial, IT, digital or legal risk. We are specifically seeking professionals with hands-on risk experience in infrastructure and the built environment.
