Location & Work Arrangement: Hybrid working pattern available in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.

Role Summary: We have an immediate need for a Principal to undertake business development and project delivery activities for our ICT and Security team, reporting directly to the Director of ICT and Security. The role involves advising on the security of systems to support the overall buildings and infrastructure design process, coordinating with other disciplines, and building relationships with clients in the Defence, Transportation and Critical National Infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Business development: work with Buildings, Infrastructure and Defence teams to offer services to clients and build relationships.
  • Delivery: oversee and produce designs for secure ICT systems, advise on the security of systems, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and support client‑facing work.

Requirements:

  • Experience in the Telecommunications sector, ideally in Building Services or Infrastructure Engineering Design within a consultancy; experience in infrastructure, CNI and Defence sectors.
  • Sound working knowledge of AutoCad & Revit MEP and industry standard design software.
  • Capacity to coordinate teams and mentor or coach junior members.
  • Working across all RIBA stages from Feasibility to Project Handover.
  • Candidate should be a UK National and hold or be able to re‑apply for a current UKSV accredited security clearance.

Essential Experience:

  • Substantial experience in ICT for buildings, with a strong understanding of integrating these systems into a cohesive building design.
  • A UK National with valid current Security Clearance; or have recently held Security Clearance and be willing and able to re‑apply for it.
  • Experience in both business development and project delivery.
  • Familiarity with working to UK, US and international standards for security and ICT system design, including in the Defence and CNI sectors, and with the suppliers of relevant systems.
  • Expertise in communications and relationship building.
  • Experienced in writing reports and specifications, and reading and understanding project briefs.
  • Experienced in working with multiple disciplinary design teams and partners.
  • Experienced in delivering both technical and commercial elements of proposals.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing the following systems:
    • Data Communications and Networking Systems
    • Secure and non‑secure communications systems and installations, including protected facilities.
    • Telecommunications Systems
    • Radio Systems
    • Network (wired and wireless) and Infrastructure
    • Structured cabling and outside plant
    • Video Surveillance and CCTV Systems
    • Personnel and Vehicle Access Control Systems
    • Intruder Detection Systems
    • Intercom Systems
    • Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems
    • Developing coordinated security solutions for assets and facilities, including locking systems, physical security installations (fences, gates, barriers, HVM), security lighting and Security Management Systems.

Additional Skills, Qualifications And Personal Characteristics:

  • MCIBSE, IET accreditation or similar, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Technical training and registered membership as a Security Professional.
  • Education to Degree Standard in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Project Management experience.
  • An enquiring approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas while understanding the need for a good commercial balance.
