Our Graduate Development Programme is a structured two-year scheme designed to support your development at the start of your Jacobs career journey. Through a combination of blended learning, mentoring, progress reviews and networking, you will establish yourself as knowledgeable and competent across four key focus areas: human skills, consulting skills, championing our strategy, and your passions.
The Graduate Development Programme allows you to customise your learning journey to reflect your specific interests, career goals, and technical skillset – creating a graduate experience that is unique to you. The GDP is an experience programme, meaning that a large portion of what you’ll learn will be on-the-job. You’ll work with your manager and mentor to collect the learning experiences that will be most meaningful for you.

Jacobs is a market leader in the transportation sector, working with major clients like National Highways, Transport for Scotland, Manchester Airport Group, Heathrow Ltd, HS2 Ltd and the Welsh Government. From global mega-projects like King Salman International Airport to local initiatives with councils and transport authorities, we offer opportunities to make a real impact—both worldwide and in your own community.
The successful candidate will be provided with on-the-job training using the latest software tools and exposure to an interesting mix of projects through concept stage to construction. You will be expected to assist and support colleagues in the preparation of feasibility studies, scheme reports, and produce detailed designs to support the enhancement and renewal of intelligent transport systems on both public and private sector projects throughout the UK & Ireland. As a new graduate within our Highways Technology team you will have the opportunity to make your mark and influence the continuing growth of Jacobs working on both local and national highways schemes.
The start date for this role is September 2026.
