Your impact

We’re excited to announce an Associate Director to lead the design and delivery of active travel, public transport, and streetscape schemes that transform everyday journeys in our London office. Your expertise will make a lasting impact. You’ll bring a deep understanding of designing active travel networks, public transport solutions, and streetscape schemes that make cities safer and more inclusive. With your knowledge of key design standards—such as LTN 1/20, LTN 1/24, and Manual for Streets—you’ll ensure every project meets the highest benchmarks for quality and safety. You’ll apply advanced modelling tools to assess multimodal network impacts and develop innovative, cost‑effective strategies that solve complex challenges. Through clear and confident communication, you’ll engage clients, present ideas that inspire, and deliver solutions that exceed expectations. Your awareness of emerging trends—net zero, decarbonisation, and digital technologies—will help Jacobs stay ahead of industry change and lead the way in creating sustainable, future‑ready transport systems.

You’ll build strong, lasting relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring exceptional service. You’ll mentor and inspire junior colleagues, fostering growth and sharing knowledge that elevates the entire team. And as you shape transformative projects, you’ll shape your own future—unlocking opportunities for business development and career progression, supported by a global team that values your ambition and expertise. You’ll join a collaborative team delivering high‑profile projects for clients such as Transport for London, London boroughs, Essex County Council, Kent County Council, Hertfordshire County Council, and Heathrow Airport Ltd. Some of our recent projects that may have impacted you directly include TfL’s Bus Priority Programme, Kent Fastrack, Silvertown Tunnel, Elephant & Castle regeneration, Highbury Corner, and Cycle Enfield.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or related discipline.
- Proven experience in Traffic Engineering and application of modelling.
- Strong understanding of active travel design principles and relevant standards.
- Experience in the use of local junction and microsimulation software.
- Experience of wider Transport Planning specialisms—e.g. Development Planning, Policy.
- Chartered or working towards professional accreditation (CEng, TPP, or similar).
