At Jacobs, we are looking for seasonal ecologists to support our project commitments on a range of contract types across our office locations in Peterborough/Norwich, London, Cardiff, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Winnersh, Worcester, and Birmingham. We are especially interested in recruiting experienced field survey leads, bat specialists, water vole specialists, botanists, and ornithologists. We would be keen to offer fixed-term and zero-hour contracts, full-time or part-time, to the right candidates.

Our ecology team is currently over two hundred strong, which means technical and career mentoring to ensure your continued professional development.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the national team of ecologists working on a variety of projects
  • Survey support and logistic planning
  • Ecological surveying and biological data collection
  • Report Writing

Here's what you'll need:

  • Aptitude or enthusiasm for a career in ecology (degree, or keen naturalist)
  • Experience in ecology surveys and as a field scientist
  • Eligibility for CIEEM membership
  • Capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports
  • You must be a good team player with a willingness to work away from your base office.

Ideally, here's what you'll also have:

  • Driving license (please specify on your CV)
  • Understanding of relevant UK Ecology legislation
  • Understanding of GIS or basic ability using ArcGIS
  • Full CIEEM membership
  • An ecological specialism
  • Chartered Environmentalist
  • Ecological Clerk of Works (EcCoW) experience
