Transport Planning & Mobility Solutions at Jacobs is one of the most successful teams of its nature in the UK and Ireland, with a varied client base, strong local pipeline of work and supports project teams globally. Our regional team is involved in a range of exciting and innovative projects covering all elements of transport planning including traffic engineering, highways development management, traffic modelling, economic appraisal, active modes, public transport, policy & strategy formation and business case development.
We are looking for an experienced Principal level Traffic Engineer to support the delivery of our pipeline and grow their career within an established team in London. You will have experience in the design of active travel, public transport and inclusive street designs with knowledge of the appropriate design guidance and standards such as LTN 1/20, Manual for Streets Design Manual for Roads and Bridges or Local Authority Street Design guidance. You will also have experience of using software packages to assess the network impact of these multimodal schemes.
Our local teams get involved in a range of exciting and innovative projects, shaping visions, concepts and development through feasibility and preliminary design. In project delivery you will be a task lead, manage outputs of junior staff and assist in their technical and professional development as well as managing client relationships, budgets, programs and resources to effectively deliver projects with support from a Project Manager / Project Director.
- This is a hybrid role based in our London Bridge office
- Full time employment with Jacobs is on the basis of 40 hours pw but work-life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for us and we are happy to discuss part-time and flexible working hours to suit your needs and those of the business

Here\’s what you\’ll need
- To be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and have achieved or be working towards a relevant professional accreditation with a recognised industry body e.g. CIHT, ICE, TPS
- A background in the operational assessment of active travel and public transport schemes to achieve balanced outcomes particularly in urban environments, including experience of LinSig, Junctions and VISSIM microsimulation software packages, data requirements and the interpretation and presentation of modelling results
- Experience overseeing the delivery of models in accordance with TfL’s Model Auditing Process (MAP) and requirements of other bodies such as National Highways
- Excellent report writing, presentations and workshop delivery skills, with the ability to draw on a variety of tools to communicate complex issues concisely and effectively
