Your impact
Jacobs is seeking an experienced Senior / Principal Energy Consultant with strong digital and data capabilities to join our growing UK Energy Advisory business.
This role will support the delivery of innovative energy solutions across infrastructure, industrial and built environment sectors, with a focus on embedding digital tools, data-driven approaches and process optimisation into our service offerings.
Key areas of responsibility include energy efficiency, utility optimisation, energy systems analysis, market modelling, forecasting, decarbonisation strategy development and with a focus on the digital transformation of energy advisory services.
The successful candidate will help drive technical excellence, improve delivery efficiency and support the continued growth of Jacobs energy consulting capabilities.
The successful candidate will be a lead in the delivery of advisory projects, manage client relationships and support the development of technical capabilities across the team.
They will bring experience of working in a consultancy environment, an understanding of evolving energy markets, technologies and regulations, and the ability to translate complex client requirements into practical, data-driven solutions.
Working closely with engineers, analysts and digital specialists, the Senior / Principal Consultant will help develop innovative tools and approaches that improve analysis, decision-making and project delivery.
They will also contribute to business development, mentor junior staff and support the continued growth of Jacobs Energy Advisory capability.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Advisory
- Strong understanding of project development lifecycles, with experience spanning pre-feasibility, feasibility, FEED and Owner's Engineer services.
- Ability to identify scope gaps, key risks and critical deliverables, ensuring robust technical and commercial outcomes.
- Proven experience in techno-economic modelling, project assurance and the development of delivery processes that improve efficiency, consistency, and quality across projects.
- Capable of translating complex technical requirements into practical project solutions while supporting multidisciplinary teams through successful project execution.
- Technical Innovation and Best Practices
- Identify and use digital and technical tools to support project delivery and contribute to the development of best practices and standard methodologies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and technological and data management advancements in sustainable energy markets.
- Input to thought leadership within Jacobs and externally.
- Client Management and Business Development
- Develop client relationships, leading progress meetings and presentations.
- Collaborate with our sales team and conduct other business development activities to grow the Core Energy portfolio and pipeline.
- Prepare compelling proposals to secure new business opportunities.

The following energy and digital related skills and experience are required for this office based or hybrid working role:
- Advanced Excel modelling and analysis.
- Data analysis and interpretation to support technical and commercial decision-making.
- Python, SQL, or similar tools for data processing, automation, and model development.
- Version control and development / application of code quality practices, including Git Hub and testing frameworks.
- Energy modelling, forecasting, optimisation, or simulation tools.
- Data management, quality assurance, and governance principles.
- Developing models, dashboards, analytical tools, or automated processes.
- Applying digital solutions across energy, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Working with software developers, data analysts, and digital delivery teams.
- Emerging technologies including digital twins, Io T, machine learning, and cloud-based platforms.
- Significant experience in consultancy and/or engineering related to energy, utilities, infrastructure, or similar sectors, with a track record of delivering technical projects, leading teams, and providing strategic client advice.
- Strong understanding of energy markets, policy, decarbonisation, and the energy transition.
- Experience in energy modelling, forecasting, scenario analysis, and techno-economic assessment.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Proven client-facing, business development, and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline (Master's degree, Ph D, or chartered status desirable).
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to client and company locations across the UK.
