One of London's leading super-prime residential contractors is looking to appoint a Design Manager to join their growing design team. This opportunity would suit an Architect, Architectural Technologist or Design Manager who enjoys working on exceptional residential projects and wants to play a meaningful role in bringing outstanding designs to life.
The successful candidate will join a well-established contractor with a reputation for delivering some of the finest private homes in London and the Home Counties, working alongside world-class architects, consultants, interior designers and ultra-high-net-worth clients. Unlike many contractor-side design management roles, this position offers genuine involvement from the earliest stages of a project. The business is regularly engaged by clients before construction begins and is often appointed under procurement routes that include significant Contractor Design Portion responsibilities.
As a result, the role is focused on design development, technical problem-solving and project delivery rather than simply reviewing drawings or driving value engineering exercises.
The OpportunityThis is an excellent opportunity for an architecturally trained individual who has already made the move into construction, or is looking to build upon their initial contractor-side experience. You will become part of a growing design department where support, mentorship and professional development are genuinely encouraged. Working closely with Project Managers, Commercial Teams, Site Teams and external consultants, you will help manage the design process from early feasibility stages through to project completion.
Projects typically range from £5m to £30m and regularly include:
- Prime and super-prime residential refurbishments
- Listed and heritage buildings
- Structural alterations
- Basement construction
- Complex temporary works
- Bespoke architectural detailing
- High-end interior fit-outs
- Contractor-designed elements and specialist packages
No two projects are the same, providing an exceptional platform for professional growth and development.
The PersonWe are particularly interested in individuals who enjoy the technical side of construction and are motivated by solving complex design challenges. You are likely to have:
- An architectural, architectural technology or related design qualification
- Experience working within an architectural practice, consultancy or contractor environment
- At least 12 months' experience working with a main contractor
- Strong technical understanding and coordination skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- A collaborative and proactive approach
- A genuine interest in high-end residential construction
Most importantly, you will be looking for a role where you can continue to learn, develop and contribute within a supportive and ambitious business.
Why Join?- Growing and highly respected super-prime contractor
- Strong pipeline of secured projects
- Established and expanding design team
- Significant early-stage client engagement
- Interesting design-led projects
- Genuine Contractor Design Portion responsibilities
- Direct exposure to leading architects and consultants
