Business Development and Events Manager

Intro: Business Development and Events Manager

Be part of a creative team that has been transforming a holiday resort in North Devon.

Based near Watermouth, your role will be to lead on local events and partnerships. Working at a strategic and commercial level, you will be working with our Acting Resort Manager, National Partnerships Manager, Events Manager, and Marketing Manager. Together you will attract corporations, clubs, groups, and individuals, to utilize the venue, restaurant, café, bar and accommodation at the resort, by planning, and managing the creation of new events, parties, group trips and more.

The Role: Business Development and Events Manager

This role will focus on strategic business development to grow the events management business at the resort in order to meet our ambitious sales targets. You are tasked with attracting a wider range of organisations to use the resort, for everything from food festivals and wellness retreats, to local craft markets, music weekenders, and seasonal celebrations.

You will need to be creative, persuasive, have excellent communication skills, as well as develop a keen understanding of how to reach out to and develop relationships with potential customers. You should be able tounderstand the needs of different types of organisations and events, and be able to present enticing packages that are relevant, competitive, and attractive to potential customers, as well as being commercially viable for the resort.

In addition to larger events, we are keen to invite community groups to use resort facilities in order to grow local connections and increase local familiarity with all that we have to offer. So, this role has two strands commercial events and community building.

Key Responsibilities: Business Development and Events Manager

  • Managing:
  • Planning and managing a variety of on-site events, from concept to contract.
  • Having a keen eye for detail to ensure contracts are comprehensive and commercial.
  • Working with local suppliers, contractors, and entertainers to enhance the offering.
  • Identifying and building relationships with potential customers across a range of industries.

oBeing present for all events, acting as an authoritative liaison point and helping to convert new customers into repeat business.

oActing as an ambassador for the park within the Ilfracombe and wider Devon community.

The Person: Business Development and Events Manager

We are looking for a confident, outgoing personality with a flair for building connections. Ideally, youll have a background in events, hospitality, or destination marketing, and a proven track record of creating memorable experiences that drive commercial results.

Strong project management skills and a hands-on approach are a mustthis is a role where youll need to be able to build partnerships, help plan new events, and support the full resort team with clear communication and support to ensure all relevant staff have an understand of how to set up and manage the event and that it runs smoothly.

Skills & Experience:

Proven experience in event planning and/or business development

Organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently.

Passion for community engagement and local partnerships.

Ability to build strong relationships with key local partners, groups, and businesses, including the local council, tourism bodies, community groups and local corporations.

You will need to be an effective communicator, skilled in partnerships, networking, customer relationship building, business development, negotiating, and sales.

We are looking for someone to work well within a multi-disciplinary team and to communicate effectively internally.
