We are looking for a Building Services Engineer to provide national mobile technical support across a large, multi-site UK property portfolio. Working as part of the Building Services / Facilities Management team, you will provide technical expertise across planned and reactive maintenance, building projects, asset management, compliance, defect investigation and lifecycle works.

This is a varied role suited to an experienced Building Services professional who is comfortable working across multiple sites, managing competing priorities and providing practical technical advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Building Services and Facilities Management teams, helping to coordinate and deliver planned and reactive maintenance, emergency works and projects.
  • Support Acceptance into Service activities, including design and specification reviews, Health & Safety File reviews, functional testing, witnessing, snagging and defect identification.
  • Investigate technical issues across properties and provide detailed findings and recommendations.
  • Produce professional technical reports referencing relevant legislation, regulations, standards, guidance and good industry practice.
  • Identify, record and track building and service defects, operational issues and maintenance difficulties, including investigating root causes.
  • Develop potential solutions, cost estimates and proposals for property-specific technical issues and remedial works.
  • Support business cases, CAPEX submissions, lifecycle projects and budget planning.
  • Monitor remedial works and maintain accurate records of longer-term property, service and operational risks.
  • Undertake desktop Health & Safety File reviews, data gathering, analysis and reporting.
  • Carry out desktop and physical asset surveys, recording asset types, quantities and condition.
  • Develop and maintain property-specific and estate-wide asset schedules.
  • Provide technical advice across a broad range of building services, including: Building fabric, Mechanical systems, Electrical systems, Building controls and associated systems.
  • Prepare project work packages, contract scopes and technical specifications.
  • Support Requests for Quotation and tender exercises for lifecycle replacement, defect remediation and asset improvement projects.
  • Produce bottom-up cost estimates using recognised industry cost guides and standards.
  • Maintain and report on backlog maintenance and lifecycle works registers.
  • Manage specialist subcontractors where required, ensuring works comply with relevant legislation, health and safety requirements and environmental policies.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties within the scope and capabilities of the role.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant technical qualification, ideally at degree level in Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a Building Services Engineering role, ideally within a large, multi-site or multi-client property portfolio.
  • Good knowledge of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, CDM Regulations, Contractor management, UK Building Regulations, British and Harmonised Standards, Professional institution standards and guidance, Relevant UK legislation and industry requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously and deliver work through to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently across multiple locations.
