Our client, a prestigious contemporary art gallery with a prominent Central London location, is seeking an Art Consultant to join their dynamic team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate art professional to combine their academic expertise with commercial acumen in a client-facing role.
The Role
As Art Consultant, you'll be the vital link between the gallery's exceptional contemporary art collection and its discerning clientele. Your days will be split between engaging with walk-in visitors and nurturing relationships with established collectors through dedicated clienteling activities. You'll spend your time on the gallery floor, providing expert guidance, building trust, and ultimately facilitating sales of museum-quality contemporary works.
This role offers the perfect balance of intellectual engagement and commercial reward, with substantial commission potential for driven individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and engage with gallery visitors, providing expert insights into the contemporary art collection
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective collectors
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to understand clients' collecting interests and preferences
- Guide clients through the acquisition process with professionalism and sensitivity
- Proactively reach out to clients with relevant artist updates, exhibition invitations, and new acquisitions
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions and preferences
- Collaborate with the gallery team to achieve sales targets
- Stay informed about contemporary art market trends, artists, and movements
About You
- Master\'s degree in Art History or related art discipline
- Genuine passion for contemporary art and knowledge of current artists and movements
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Natural ability to build rapport with high-net-worth individuals
- Professional, polished presentation
- Commercially minded with a drive to succeed
- Comfortable spending full working week in the gallery environment
- Previous experience in gallery sales, art advisory, or luxury clienteling
- Existing network within the art collecting community
- Second language skills
