Are you an organised and detail driven Medical Records Paralegal with experience supporting Clinical Negligence matters? At the Jackson Lees Group, we exist to make a positive difference for our clients, our colleagues and the communities we serve. You’ll play a vital role within our supportive and inclusive Clinical Negligence team, taking ownership of obtaining, reviewing and managing medical records under tight timescales to support the progression of cases. Overall Purpose

To provide high-quality legal and administrative support to the Clinical Negligence team, assisting with the progression of cases from instruction through to conclusion. The role holder will support Fee Earners and the Team Head by delivering an excellent standard of client care, maintaining compliant and well-managed files, and contributing to the effective running of the department while acting as a professional ambassador for Jackson Lees Group.

Key Accountabilities

  • Taking new instructions from clinical negligence clients
  • Liaise with the senior fee earners in relation to the case and case plan
  • Advise clients on the retainer, CFA and ATE
  • Ensuring we retain new clients as early as possible
  • Checking records are complete and legible
  • Ensure effective and thorough time recording on files
  • Drafting witness statements, letters, emails and faxes
  • Liaising with external agencies and various internal teams
  • Speaking with clients on the telephone in a professional and confidential manner
  • Attending meetings with clients where necessary
  • Assisting other team members
  • Researching medical conditions relevant to the clients
  • Dealing with client documentation including complaints to the medical establishments
  • Other ad-hoc duties, as required
  • Instructing MRT for nurse review and pagination

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in a Paralegal, Medical Records or legal support role, ideally within Clinical Negligence or Personal Injury
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to obtain, track and manage medical records under tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to check medical records for completeness, accuracy and legibility
  • Confident and professional communicator, comfortable liaising with clients, medical providers and internal teams
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative Clinical Negligence team
  • Proactive and well-organised, with the ability to use initiative and sound judgement when prioritising record requests
  • Competent IT skills, including experience using case management systems and maintaining accurate file records
  • A strong commitment to client care, confidentiality, data protection and regulatory compliance
