A growing global chemical manufacturer is seeking a Research & Development Manager to join its technical team. This is a stand-alone role that combines formulation, scale-up and cross-functional collaboration to support commercial product launches for global customers. You will work closely with R&D, Production, Quality, Sourcing and Commercial teams on a diverse range of development projects.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and optimise new and existing product formulations in response to customer briefs and commercial opportunities.
- Conduct lab-based evaluations.
- Support pilot and production scale-up activities, ensuring reproducibility, quality and compliance.
- Collaborate with operations and QA to define quality standards for new products and support troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support for commercial teams including sample preparation, demonstrations and product documentation.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives focusing on quality, efficiency and sustainability.
- Participate in the evaluation of raw materials and support sourcing activities when required.
- Manage multiple development projects simultaneously, meeting timelines and customer expectations.
About you
- Degree (or equivalent) in a scientific field.
- Familiarity with QA safety systems (e.g., HACCP, GMP) is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Comfortable with hands-on work in both lab and production environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Additional Information
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Candidates must be able to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving commercial environment.
