Jackson Hogg have partnered with a specialist manufacturing business in the Newcastle upon Tyne area on a Head of HSE position, reporting into the Site Director.
- Drive the site’s activities and initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Site Improvement Plans, PSM and maintenance of ISO 45001/ISO 14001/ISO 9001.
- Guide line organisation to develop and ensure implementation of HSES policies, procedures, plans and practices in line with the regulatory requirements.
- Manage interfaces with all external and internal (outside of site) stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement and Corporate Audit standards and targets to achieve year on year growth.
- Member of the Crisis Management Team.
- Be an effective coach for the site by leveraging and extending its HSE knowledge.
- Act as a specialist within own HSE discipline
- Spend time engaging with employees and act as a role model for ensuring compliance with and commitment to the HSE Policy, Directives, DSEAR, COSHH, NEBOSH, Rules & Procedures (LSRs, LCPs, LOTOTO, CSE, PTW and all aspects of contractor and visitor safety).
- Work actively to identify and implement improvement opportunities using DMAIC and ALPS methodology
- Contribute to the development of the HSE strategy for design, deployment and delivery of the HSE Policy, Directives, Rules & Procedures and Safety Common Platform for the entity at the next higher level, in order to ensure alignment of objectives
- Cooperate with colleagues from other units
- Drive HAZOP and MOC management and sign off processes and use DMAIC and ALPS approach to drive Continuous Improvement in HSE
- Support accidents investigation, root cause analysis assistance to define and implement corrective actions
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor or masters level qualification in HSE, engineering or related specialism (preferred)
- Strong strategic and conceptual skills with ability to execute and follow through.
- Experience and confidence in training and coach at all levels of the organization
- Detailed experience from work with management systems such as ISO 14001 or equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, result oriented, problem solving, ability to think clearly and make good business decisions
- Good verbal and written English language skills
- Relevant experience in different multiple units, disciplines, locations and/or other companies
- Good knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office programs
