Jackson Hogg is delighted to be recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to work for a leading engineering business operating across the onshore energy sector. This role will support the delivery of complex petrochemical, waste-to-energy and renewable energy projects with additional team management responsibilities. The successful Lead Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in leading a team and overseeing all mechanical and piping engineering activities across the project lifecycle, from concept through to delivery. The ideal candidate will act as the focal point for mechanical engineering and ideally have experience/knowledge of piping engineering within this sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all mechanical and piping engineering activities in line with QA systems, client procedures and industry codes.
  • Provide technical direction, consultancy and decision-making across concept, FEED and detailed design phases.
  • Review and approve specifications, data sheets, requisitions, drawings and vendor documentation.
  • Ensure technical accuracy, integrity and compliance of all mechanical and piping deliverables.
  • Coordinate with project, engineering and client teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Supervise, mentor and allocate work to mechanical and piping engineers, supporting staff development.

Key Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Chartered Engineer status desirable).
  • Extensive experience within the onshore energy sector, including petrochemical, waste-to-energy or renewables.
  • Proven ability to develop concepts through to detailed design review and execution.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory or lead engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant mechanical and piping codes, standards and analytical techniques.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities and deliver under tight project timescales.
