Jackson Hogg is working with a well-established manufacturing business to recruit a Lead Operator / Production Team Leader for their Electrical Production site in Melsonby. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for an experienced electro-mechanical operator who enjoys leading from the front. Approximately 60% of the role is hands-on production, with 40% focused on team leadership, coordination and continuous improvement.
You’ll work closely with the Production Manager to deliver daily output, while remaining actively involved in build, test and quality activities on the shop floor.
The RoleAs Lead Operator / Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for setting the standard on the shop floor, both in terms of output and behaviour. You will lead daily activities, support and guide operators, and step in hands-on where required to ensure targets are met safely and efficiently.
Hands-On Production (approx. 60%)- Actively participate in electro-mechanical assembly, testing and quality checks
- Support Traffic Controller production and fault-finding activities
- Ensure work is completed to required quality and safety standards
- Identify and resolve production issues in real time
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
- Lead and coordinate daily activities in line with weekly production plans
- Act as the first point of contact for operators on shift
- Monitor output, quality and delivery performance
- Champion health & safety and quality standards across the team
- Support training, coaching and development of team members
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Communicate effectively with the Production Manager and wider business
- Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
- Experience as a Lead Operator, Senior Operator or Team Leader
- Comfortable working on the tools while leading others
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement exposure (formal training desirable)
- Experience planning work and documenting processes
- Confident using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Salary up to £32,000
