Jackson Hogg is supporting a rapidly growing, family‑owned manufacturing business in Middlesbrough with the appointment of an experienced Production Supervisor (Shift). The Role
As Production Supervisor, you will lead a shop‑floor operation producing bespoke, high‑quality products within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for managing a shift team of 20-30 operators, supported by Team Leaders, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and right first time. This is a hands‑on leadership role, requiring a proactive approach, strong people management skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example to ensure safe working practices are maintained and continuously improved
- Manage day‑to‑day shop floor operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people targets
- Set, monitor, and react to variances in production performance
- Ensure required quality standards are achieved, meeting RFT and OTIF targets
- Coach, develop, and engage Team Leaders and operators to unlock full team potential
- Drive a continuous improvement culture using Lean CI methodologies and structured problem‑solving
- Lead and support improvement projects, ensuring delivery on time and in full
- Promote Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to maximise equipment availability
- Liaise closely with HR, Supply Chain, Planning, Maintenance, Sales, Customer Service, and Finance
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, shift coverage, and early‑stage disciplinary processes
- Deliver Toolbox Talks, safety briefings, and ensure compliance with company policies
- Ensure all internal and external audit requirements are met
Experience Required
- 3-5 years' experience in a production leadership role within a manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of leading teams of 20-30 employees across shift patterns
- Strong safety leadership with experience working towards an injury‑free workplace
- Demonstrated ability to deliver sustained productivity and cost improvements
- Strong employee engagement, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using Root Cause Analysis (RCA / RCT) to proactively address issues
- Confident communicator with the ability to drive change while maintaining engagement
Qualifications & Training
- Minimum 2 years' experience using Lean CI tools to drive measurable improvements
- Experience handling disciplinary and grievance processes
- Numerate with strong data analysis skills
- Competent with Microsoft Office
- BTEC Higher Professional Diploma or NVQ Level 4
- IOSH Health & Safety Management qualification – desirable
- Experience within a stone or high‑precision manufacturing environment – desirable
