Jackson Hogg Procurement division are pleased to be partnering with a public sector organisation in Durham on the appointment of a Procurement Category Specialist to join their team.
If youβre passionate about procurement and motivated by delivering meaningful social value, this role offers the chance to lead a diverse portfolio of procurement projects while developing your skills in a supportive and forward-thinking service.
The role of Procurement Category Specialist is a full-time and permanent role offering Β£40-45k depending on experience.
Benefits include:
- Hybrid working - 3 days WFH and 2 days in office
- Flexible working hours on a 37.5 hour week
- 27 days holiday + bank holidays rising to 32 days on length of service

The Role:
- Manage category spend across a range of goods, works, and services to secure high-quality contracts that deliver demonstrable value for money.
- Provide professional procurement advice and support to service areas and partner organisations.
- Lead on the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the procurement strategy, policies, systems, and processes.
- Deliver compliant, commercially effective procurement exercises in line with the Procurement Act 2023.
- Work as part of a collaborative procurement team, reporting directly to the Procurement Manager.
The Person/Requirements:
- This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, commercially aware, and committed to supporting strong governance, innovation, and social value outcomes.
- 5 years' experience in a Procurement role.
- Ideally CIPS qualified, working towards or willing to complete.
