Jackson Hogg Procurement division are delighted to be partnering with a rapidly‑growing FMCG e‑commerce business in Newton Aycliffe on the appointment of a Buyer to join their team on a full‑time and permanent basis. This is an on‑site based role with working hours of Monday to Friday (40 hours) and salary of circa £40-42k depending on experience.

The Role:

  • Buying & Commercial Management: Manage a defined buying category, source new products and suppliers aligned with customer demand and commercial strategy, negotiate cost prices, rebates, payment terms, MOQs and promotional support to maximise margin, maintain competitive pricing and strong product availability across the range.
  • Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key UK and international suppliers, conduct regular supplier performance reviews (cost, service level, lead times, quality), identify and mitigate supply risks, working closely with Supply Chain and Operations, support supplier onboarding and contract management.
  • Range & Stock Management: Work with Merchandising and Digital Teams to optimise product range and lifecycle, ensure accurate purchasing aligned to sales forecasts and stock targets, monitor stock levels, lead times and demand trends to minimise overstock and stockouts.
  • Data & Market Analysis: Analyse sales, margin and supplier data to inform buying decisions, track market trends, competitor activity and new product launches, support range reviews and category planning using data‑driven insights.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing on promotions, launches and seasonal campaigns, work with Finance to manage budgets, cost prices and margin targets, support continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems.

The Person / Specification:

  • Proven experience as a Buyer or Junior Buyer within FMCG, retail or e‑commerce would be advantageous.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing suppliers and product ranges.
  • Confident working with data, forecasts and commercial KPIs.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
  • Commercially curious and results‑driven.
  • Strong communicator with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive, resilient and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
