An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Test Technician to join a busy engineering team responsible for the assembly, testing and development of complex machinery and mechanical systems.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys problem solving, fault finding and working closely with engineers to ensure equipment performs to the required standards.
You'll play a key role in building, testing and evaluating machinery, helping identify issues and supporting the development of new and existing products.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly of machinery, sub-assemblies and test equipment.
- Set up and conduct testing activities on mechanical systems and products.
- Diagnose faults and investigate equipment failures to determine root causes.
- Carry out inspections and assessments of components and assemblies.
- Support commissioning, validation and performance testing activities.
- Record test results and provide feedback to engineering teams.
- Assist with modifications, improvements and development projects.
- Work from engineering drawings, technical specifications and assembly instructions.
- Support prototype builds and new product development activities.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
- Candidate Requirements
- Apprentice trained or qualified Mechanical Fitter, Technician or similar engineering discipline.
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly, testing, commissioning or maintenance.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience working with machinery, mechanical systems or automated equipment.
- Knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, drives, actuators, pneumatic systems or similar equipment would be beneficial.
- Hands-on approach with a genuine interest in engineering and how machinery works.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
