Jackson Hogg is recruiting on behalf of our client for a reliable and hardworking Janitor to support the day-to-day upkeep of a busy site in Chilton, Ferryhill. Reporting to site management, this role plays an important part in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-presented environment for employees and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily cleaning of common areas including offices, restrooms, corridors, and break rooms
- Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
- Dusting and wiping down surfaces such as windowsills, desks, and countertops
- Emptying general waste and recycling bins, ensuring correct disposal practices
- Basic grounds maintenance, including outdoor bins and recycling areas
- Carrying out minor repairs and simple handyman tasks within capability (e.g. changing light bulbs, fixing small leaks, minor paint touch-ups)
- Assisting with deep cleaning tasks when required (e.g. carpet cleaning, floor waxing, window washing)
- Preparing rooms for meetings and supporting cleaning before or after site events
- Supporting basic building maintenance internally and externally
- Following all site health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Reporting any damage, defects, or safety hazards identified
Candidate Requirements
- Dependable, practical, and detail-focused approach
- Basic understanding of cleaning products and equipment (preferred but not essential)
- Basic understanding of minor repair or handyman tasks, or willingness to learn
- Physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including lifting, bending, and standing
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently
- Positive attitude toward maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
What’s on Offer
- 16–20 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- 4-hour shifts (flexible schedule by agreement)
- £12.21 per hour
- Weekly pay
- 23 days holiday + 8 bank holidays per year (Jan–Dec holiday year)
