Location: Ferryhill, County Durham
Pay Rate: £13.29 – £15.94 per hour (dependent on experience)
Hours of Work:
- Training Period: Day shift, 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
- Post-Training: Two-shift rotation, Monday to Friday
- Early Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm
- Late Shift: 2:30pm – 11:00pm
Company Overview: Our client is a well-established sheet metal fabrication company based in Ferryhill, supplying fabricated components to a range of industrial customers. Due to ongoing growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Press Brake Operative to strengthen their production team.
Role Overview: This role requires an experienced Press Brake Operative capable of setting up and operating press brake machinery to produce high-quality sheet metal components in line with engineering drawings, tolerances, and production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate press brake machinery independently
- Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings
- Select correct tooling and materials for each job
- Produce components to specified tolerances and quality standards
- Carry out first-off, in-process, and final quality checks
- Ensure work is completed safely and in line with company procedures
- Identify and report faults, defects, or machine issues
- Meet daily production targets and maintain consistent output
Skills and Experience (Essential):
- Proven, hands-on experience operating press brake machines in a sheet metal fabrication environment
- Strong ability to read and work from engineering drawings
- Solid understanding of bending sequences, tolerances, and material types
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work a rotating two-shift pattern following training
Desirable:
- CNC press brake experience
- Experience working in a production or high-volume fabrication environment
