Role – Engineering Manager The Engineering Manager is responsible for coordinating and specifying the engineering and technical aspects of project delivery. The role involves mentoring project engineers, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, statutory regulations, and safety standards. This is a customer-facing position, working closely with project teams to achieve programme and cost targets. Responsibilities * Review project documentation, contracts, schedules, and client specifications. * Ensure all engineering outputs comply with specifications, regulations, and safety standards. * Support project structures, specifications, and work breakdown planning. * Manage engineering deliverables and workload in line with project schedules. * Lead design and project reviews, identifying risks and ensuring alignment with requirements. * Approve engineering specifications and deliverables for compliance and quality. * Prepare subcontract documentation and manage subcontractor contributions. * Support change management, technical queries, and variation controls. * Collate technical files, O&M manuals, and ensure accurate documentation. * Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors professionally and promptly. * Promote efficiency, value engineering, risk reduction, and continuous improvement. * Mentor project engineers and contribute to lessons learned. * Work in accordance with ISO 9001 quality procedures. Education & Experience * HNC (or higher) in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Chemical. * Experience in project roles within engineering or industrial environments. * Strong knowledge of construction and process industries. * Understanding of control systems and directives. * Proven ability in change management and project planning. * Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Additional Information & Offer * This is a Technical Engineering Manager role, without direct line management duties. It will suit a technical person with a focus and passion for project delivery * The positions provides a flexible work pattern with a Sunderland head office, minimal travel, on site parking and above industry benefits (pension, holidays etc.) * Car allowance £5k+ * ££ Bonus (performance based)
