Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with one of the UK's largest port operators on the appointment of an Electrical & Control Engineer to join their Marine Engineering team. This is a permanent, hybrid role based in Teesside.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Create electrical control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and automation hardware/software. Develop functional design specifications.
- System Integration: Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to integrate electrical controls into wider systems.
- Testing & Commissioning: Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical equipment.
- Maintenance & Optimization: Carry out routine maintenance tasks, ensuring high availability and reliability of control systems while improving efficiency and reducing downtime.
- Fault Finding & Diagnostics: Diagnose and resolve faults on electrical and control systems, implementing fixes to prevent future occurrences.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to electrical & control engineering standards in line with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Documentation: Prepare technical reports, manuals, and system documentation.
- Project Support: Provide technical input during project planning, execution, and handover.
Key Requirements:
- BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industrial experience).
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Bachmann, or similar IEC programming suite).
- Knowledge of SCADA, HMI systems, AC/DC motor drives (Siemens, ABB).
- Strong understanding of electrical & control schematics.
- Familiarity with industrial automation, instrumentation, and industrial communication systems (Profibus, Profinet, RS232, TCP/IP, FO).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
