We are seeking a Product & Application Technician to join a dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will design and execute specialized technical work programs to develop cutting-edge products, applications, and technologies. Supporting a business portfolio valued at over $100 million, you’ll work on diverse projects, synthesizing and evaluating pigments while driving advancements in testing and formulation methods. Job Purpose To design, plan, and carry out specialized technical work programs to support the development of new products, new applications, and innovative technical platforms. Reporting into the Specialty Pigments & Active Materials PAD Manager Principal Accountabilities * Technical Work Programs: Design, plan, and execute novel and specialized experimental work programs to expand the company’s technology base. * Product Development: Develop and evaluate innovative product design technologies for CPF markets, enabling business growth in new and existing application areas. * Pigment Synthesis: Synthesize and evaluate new pigments, compositions, and morphologies at laboratory scale to support product development programs and innovative platforms. * Data Analysis: Interpret and report application test results and pigment evaluations to meet the information needs of Scientists, Project Leaders, and Technical Support Managers. * Training & Assistance: Provide technical training, assistance, and problem-solving to support team development activities. * Efficiency Improvements: Contribute ideas and know-how to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of innovation and technical support programs. * Method Development: Improve and develop new applications testing and synthesis methods to address evolving business needs. * Equipment Maintenance: Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained in a fit-for-purpose state, delivering optimized high-quality results safely and efficiently. * Reporting & Presentation: Evaluate and report findings to technical contacts within the group and present insights to the wider technical community as needed. * Compliance: Adhere to EHS, Product Stewardship, SOX, and Business Conduct policies at all times. Special Features * Operate, adapt, and develop Cosmetics, Pharma and Food application preparation and testing techniques to meet output requirements. * Initiate and adapt formulations for new applications, achieving specified optical and physical properties. * Manage multiple tasks independently, with work programs ranging from 2-3 months to over 2 years. * Attain high expertise in measurement and characterization techniques while assessing emerging methodologies. * Work effectively across cultural and linguistic barriers in an international setting, collaborating with colleagues, customers, and specialists. Additional responsibilities may include: * Operation and maintenance of key laboratory equipment. * Supporting the Innovation Centre as EHS Coordinator, Fire Warden, First Aider, or Mental Health First Aider. * Adapting to changing business needs and supporting other areas within Innovation when required. Qualifications: * Minimum: Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related science subject. Skills/Knowledge/Experience: Essential: * Experience in carrying out research and development studies. Desirable: * Experience with cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and/or food application formulations and testing. * Knowledge of pigment science and technology. * Knowledge of materials chemistry testing
