Jackson Hogg is recruiting a Structural Steel Plater on behalf of a well-established client based in Richmond, North Yorkshire. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering long-term employment following a successful temporary period.
The Role
You will be working within a structural steel fabrication environment, carrying out plating duties on heavy steel components. The role requires the ability to work accurately from engineering drawings, carry out heat straightening where required, and meet production targets while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plating structural steel components using plate thicknesses ranging from 5mm to 100mm
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Carrying out heat straightening where required
- Using grinders and associated consumables in line with HAVS regulations
- Operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely
- Working to production targets and quality standards
- Adhering to all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures
- Supporting training activities and undertaking other reasonable duties as required
Requirements
- Time-served Plater or equivalent qualifications (trade test required)
- Experience working in heavy engineering or structural steel fabrication
- Confident working from engineering drawings
- Experience using overhead cranes and slinging techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
Working Hours & Pay
- Monday to Friday: 6.00am – 2.30pm
- Saturday overtime: 7.30am – 12.30pm, paid at 1.5x basic rate
- Pay rate: £17.62 per hour
