Salary range: £45,000-£54,000 basic + benefits
Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a leading company specialising in renewable energy solutions, for the assignment of a Senior Electrical Design Engineer.
Purpose of the role
- To oversee the design, development, installation and commissioning of electrical engineering systems and equipment within the Blyth site.
- To provide specialist technical support to electrical engineering activities in the delivery of offshore renewable energy related commercial, capital and research projects to industry standards and safety regulations.
- To support the delivery of asset developments that address future business alignment strategies while upgrading and supporting maintenance of electrical equipment and related sub-systems within test facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead problem solving for complex engineering issues, processes and projects.
- Provide electrical engineering expertise for design, development and testing activities.
- Manage multiple projects with responsibility for time, quality and cost.
- Maintain project and test records in line with customer and accreditation requirements.
- Support tenders, budgets, customer engagement and supplier management.
- Carry out technical reviews and approvals of reports, drawings and procedures.
- Keep up to date with relevant technologies, standards and engineering best practice.
- Ensure installations and equipment setups meet required standards.
- Mentor and support the development of engineers.
- Present project updates and proposals to stakeholders and clients.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement and asset enhancement.
- Ensure compliance with ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001 and ISO17025 standards.
- Undertake any additional duties required to support organisational objectives.
Skills & Experience
- Technical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of electrical systems including substations, transformers, converters, switchgear and protection.
- Experience of electrical testing and protection settings.
- Strong team-working skills in collaborative environments.
- Experience with electrical and mechanical power generation equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical, instrumentation, electronic and control engineering within renewable energy.
- Design, installation, testing and commissioning experience.
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink and EPLAN.
- Detailed knowledge of BS7671 installation and testing standards.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
