Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a leading diagnostics business which is scaling up its engineering team due to new international investment. This is for a dynamic electronics engineer who can operate across hardware, firmware, and cross-functional design areas while working in a heavily regulated environment. You will be involved directly in the design cycle that takes their new technology from concept to the market. This is a permanent, full-time on-site role based in Newcastle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design cycles, updates, and enhancements across an electronics-heavy medical device.
  • Documentation, traceability, and the technical file.
  • Deliver design changes driven by new standards, global regulatory requirements, or product performance needs.
  • Work hands-on with hardware, firmware, mechanical, optical, and microfluidics specialists.
  • Support verification & validation from a design perspective.
  • Interface with global partners, including China-based manufacturing groups.
  • Contribute to next-generation platforms with increased throughput and advanced architecture.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong background in electronics engineering.
  • Experience in PCB design, PCB layout, embedded/firmware literacy.
  • Hands-on engineering mindset.
  • Experience in regulated or process-heavy industries (Medical devices, aerospace, automotive, nuclear, oil & gas).
  • Exposure to ISO frameworks (ISO 13485 is a plus but not essential).
  • Methodical, structured, documentation-first mindset.
  • Strong communicator and growth-oriented.
