We are recruiting for a Site Engineer (Highways) for our Highways Division team at Jackson Civil Engineering. This role involves working on all elements of highways works, including carriageway construction, surfacing, waterproofing structures, expansion joints, drainage, parapets, VRS, ducting, etc. The position is based in the Guildford area with travel to the National Highways region, including Hampshire and Oxford. Work will be both days and nights.
Responsibilities
- Set out using total stations, GPS equipment, and traditional setting out with profiles, batter rails, and pegs.
- Read and review construction drawings.
- Undertake basic take‑offs.
- Raise technical queries with designers and client team members.
- Maintain a commercial understanding and identify the difference between cost and value.
- Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance with design and specification.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of setting out experience on infrastructure projects, preferably with Highways, and main contractor experience.
- CSCS card in the appropriate discipline.
- Score in civil engineering or equivalent education.
- SSTS card, First Aid, NRWSA, Category A, and Genny certifications.
- Good understanding of ITPs and quality assurance processes.
- Leadership skills and ability to work independently.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
