We are seeking an experienced Senior General Foreman to take a leading role on major heavy civil engineering projects across the Hampshire and Sussex area. The role will support the delivery of a range of civil engineering schemes, with projects involving activities such as coastal works, piling, retaining walls, earthworks, highway works, scour protection and temporary works. We have a strong pipeline of projects across the region, with current and upcoming schemes running through 2027 and beyond. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading site teams, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards. Due to the regional nature of the role, the successful candidate should be willing to travel across Hampshire and Sussex.

Main Duties for the Senior General Foreman will include:

  • Direct the work of operatives and sub-contractors
  • Ensure environmental systems are implemented satisfactorily
  • Contribute to preparation of programme
  • Plan and order materials and plant to achieve programmes
  • Keep daily records of work carried out
  • Ensure that works proceed in accordance with site programmes
  • Ensure all plant on site is suitable for the task and conforms to current legislation
  • Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures.

We are looking for an experienced Senior General Foreman with a strong background in heavy civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in highways and earthworks operations, ideally gained working for a main contractor, and will be confident leading site teams on complex schemes. You will possess excellent people management and communication skills, with the ability to drive productivity while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and quality. Applicants must hold SMSTS and CSCS certification, while Lift Supervisor and NRSWA Supervisor qualifications would be advantageous. Must have a full UK driving licence.
