The Role

This is a Business Development Manager position focused on sponsorship sales for a flagship, internationally recognised UK Tech event. You will be joining a commercially driven, fast-paced team and given the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with senior decision-makers across a specialist sector. This is an ideal first step into B2B events for someone who is ambitious, commercially minded, and genuinely excited about building a long-term career in the industry. Our client is looking to invest in and develop the right person, not simply hire ready-made experience.

Day-to-day you will:

  • Sell sponsorship packages to senior stakeholders and C-level contacts across corporate organisations
  • Be on the phone and in online meetings a lot!
  • Develop consultative, needs-based proposals tailored to each prospect
  • Build and manage your own pipeline of new business alongside warm leads from an established database
  • Identify new revenue opportunities and sponsorship formats to grow event income
  • Develop strong sector knowledge and client relationships
  • Build your professional profile on LinkedIn as part of a wider commercial strategy and regularly post about industry news and your events.

About You

Our client is not looking for someone who has spent years moving between events businesses. They want an early-career individual who brings energy, commercial instinct, and a genuine desire to learn and grow within one organisation.

You will ideally have:

  • Up to two years of professional experience, in recruitment, commercial sales, or a similar environment. Events experience is not essential.
  • A degree or the ability to demonstrate equivalent potential and drive
  • A natural ability to build relationships and communicate with confidence
  • Strong research and prospecting skills - you enjoy finding and pursuing new opportunities
  • A target-driven mindset with good pipeline discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A genuine interest in business and how industries evolve
  • Ambition to build a long-term career, not just fill a role

What is on Offer

  • A role with a well-established, internationally recognised event brand
  • Genuine investment in your development with clear progression for strong performers
  • Cross-functional exposure to production, marketing, delegate sales, and client services
  • An entrepreneurial, supportive culture that values initiative
