We at JKR are excited to be recruiting a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for an extremely busy and growing precision engineering company!

Main Scope of Role:

  • Support Manufacturing activities by directing best methods of manufacture
  • Deliver technical engineering support to both production and quality team
  • Lead internal facing engineering to deliver continued growth to the business; target areas of improvement using both personal experience and research bolstered by a LEAN approach
  • Lead front-end engineering to deliver continued growth to the business; target potential areas within the business that require additional work and grow portfolio and capabilities
  • Support new business team to target sectors of growth and deliver engineering solutions to prospective customers by face to face presentations or by technical instructions
  • Lead technical discussions with customers delivering engineering solutions
  • Lead internal facing engineering issues providing resolutions and recovery plans
  • Produce in depth timing plans to support production on NPI projects
  • To plan and design the manufacturing process to the shopfloor
  • Help to drive continuous improvement programs within the department
  • Quote job requests for lead-time and costs
  • Manage the introduction of new manufacturing capability into the workshop
  • Support continuous improvement and continuous reduction of waste
  • To closely support the operational team including programming CNC Milling and Turning machines to meet customer demand
  • Design and introduce process documentation, inline with the company BMS
  • Assist machining technicians to deliver parts in a safe, efficient manner and to the highest quality
  • To closely support the production team delivering a maximum RFT & OTIF on all parts
  • Assist in Continuous Improvement activities surrounding profit per project / part
  • Assist manufacturing engineers when planning work to deliver best method of manufacture
  • Support Quality by assisting with metrology methods

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must have at least 10 years’ experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or Supervisor
  • Experience in all fields of mechanical machining and all types of materials
  • Vast experience in product roll out and production release of parts
  • Experience in a subcontract machine shop
  • Experience of CNC machining in a precision engineering environment
  • High level of CNC programming competency in Fanuc Heidenhain languages
  • Must have programming experience in both turning and milling capabilities, ideally up to 5 axis (3+2) with strong knowledge of setting, operating, and programming
  • Experienced in 3D modelling, preferably with Solidworks and Visi Offline programming, familiarity with VISI CAM package highly desired
  • Must have a high level of knowledge in both GD&T and drawing standards
  • Must have a high level of knowledge surrounding technical specifications on materials, metrology, surface treatments, hardness methods
  • Must have knowledge of tooling and fixtures in addition to lean manufacturing principles, to aid process improvements and efficiencies in machining capabilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintaining a high AV on all projects / parts
  • Control all methods of manufacture using risk mitigation tools
  • Project management on live orders
  • Customer communication surrounding technical problems and capabilities
  • Assist NPI projects adhering to customer specifications and demands
  • Instruct supply chain of suitable and capable sub contract partners
  • Assist Quality with non-conformance investigations
  • Supporting Machining technicians with daily problem solving, ensuring permanent solutions are put in place
  • Produce 3D models and drawings for manufacture
  • Creating fixture / work holding methods
