Air Conditioning Engineer Roles and Responsibilities:
- Install a variety of systems, including split, multi-split, cassette, ducted, VRF/VRV, and hybrid VRF systems, along with associated controls.
- Perform servicing, planned preventive maintenance (PPM), and reactive callouts on DX A/C and heat pump systems.
- Complete all required documentation, such as Field Service Reports, asset registers, commissioning sheets, and F-Gas records.
- Supervise all aspects of on-site jobs, including labour, materials, subcontractors, and project schedules.
- Maintain accurate job records, including variations, additional work, materials used, and any delays.
- Order parts when necessary and liaise with suppliers in the absence of Senior Mechanical Contracts Managers.
- Commission, pressure test, evacuate, and charge systems in line with manufacturers’ instructions and current regulations.
- Diagnose faults in electrical, mechanical, or control components and carry out effective repairs.
- Ensure all work meets high standards while complying with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including safe refrigerant handling.
- Report safety concerns and faulty equipment to Senior Mechanical Contracts Managers.
Air Conditioning Engineer Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in the installation, service, and maintenance of DX A/C and heat pump systems.
- F-Gas Category 1 certification (City & Guilds 2079 or equivalent) – essential.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (or equivalent).
- Proven experience with residential splits, multi-splits, VRF/VRV (including heat recovery), and hybrid VRF systems.
- Competence in commissioning, leak testing, evacuation, and charging.
- Strong electrical knowledge of A/C systems, including controls, interconnecting wiring, and fault-finding.
- Ability to carry out installations to a high standard in occupied buildings.
- CSCS card holder – advantageous.
- IPAF/PASMA – advantageous.
Air Conditioning Engineer Working Hours and Benefits:
- Monday – Thursday, 07:30 – 17:00.
- Friday, 07:30 – 16:00.
- 45 minute unpaid break.
- 15 minute paid break.
- 28 days a year holiday inclusive of eight current recognised Bank Holidays.
