We at JKR are proud to be working with a very well-established and growing engineering company in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Compliance Manager! The successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for all aspects of the company's compliance framework, ensuring adherence to customer, regulatory, contractual, and export control requirements within the aerospace and defence sectors.
The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the organisation meets all customer, regulatory, and contractual obligations while managing compliance risks, export controls, and adherence to aerospace and defence standards. This role will act as the key interface between customers, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders on all compliance-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:- Review customer specifications and non-PO contracts to ensure the business understands and fulfils all compliance obligations.
- Interpret and communicate contractual, regulatory, and customer requirements across the organisation.
- Liaise with customers to complete compliance documentation and support non-quality audits including JOSCAR, Cyber Security, Conflict Minerals and REACH requirements.
- Lead all export control activities, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and internal procedures.
- Ensure documentation, data and information are handled in accordance with customer requirements, including Official Sensitive (OS) information.
- Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies, procedures and controls to support business objectives.
- Work closely with HR to ensure BPSS compliance and support personnel vetting requirements.
- Monitor compliance risks across the organisation and provide regular reporting, escalating issues where required.
- Deliver training and guidance on compliance, export control and regulatory requirements to employees across the business.
- Support the continuous improvement of compliance systems, processes and controls.
- Maintain awareness of changes in legislation, regulations and industry standards, ensuring business compliance at all times.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers and regulatory bodies on compliance-related matters.
- Support adherence to AS9100 standards and wider aerospace and defence industry requirements.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience within a Compliance Management role.
- Previous experience within the Defence sector, including working with DEFCON frameworks.
- Strong understanding of Aerospace compliance requirements, including AS9100 standards.
- Proven experience managing export controls and regulatory compliance programmes.
- Experience developing and implementing compliance policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
- Knowledge of data handling, information security and customer contractual obligations.
- Experience establishing systems and controls for handling Official Sensitive (OS) and sensitive information.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience delivering training, coaching and guidance to teams.
- Machining or manufacturing environment experience would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Security clearance would be beneficial, but not essential.
