Our client is a leader in the Design and Manufacturing of bespoke valves for a variety of industries and they are looking for a Cost Analyst to join their team! The Cost Analyst plays a critical internal role in supporting the commercial success and governance of the company’s sales organisation through accurate costing, pricing analysis, and commercial evaluation.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop, prepare, and maintain cost models and pricing structures to support tenders and sales opportunities.
  • Support the Tender Manager with costing, pricing, and margin analysis across bids and proposals.
  • Review and validate cost assumptions, pricing logic, and commercial inputs for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Contact external vendors and suppliers to obtain budgetary and firm pricing for materials, components, and services required to support sales and tender activities.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations and cost inputs, highlighting commercial risks, assumptions, and opportunities.
  • Propose procurement strategies in support of specific tenders and targeted awards, aligned with commercial objectives, delivery requirements, and risk profile.
  • Support the Supply Chain and Planning teams by providing cost intelligence, pricing assumptions, and procurement recommendations during bid preparation.
  • Support sales and tender governance by ensuring pricing aligns with internal guidelines, margin expectations, and approval processes.
  • Maintain and analyse historical pricing, cost data, and win/loss information to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide analytical input into pricing strategies, discount structures, and commercial trade-offs.
  • Support structured handover of costing and pricing information to contracts, supply chain, and finance teams post-award.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and traceability of cost calculations, assumptions, supplier inputs, and approvals.
  • Use and maintain data within CRM and associated sales systems to support pricing analysis and commercial tracking.
  • Coordinate closely with sales, proposals, engineering, supply chain, planning, and finance to ensure costing assumptions reflect technical, operational, and sourcing realities.
  • Support continuous improvement of costing tools, templates, and commercial processes.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s commercial governance, ethical standards, and company policies.

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in sales, commercial, tendering, or pricing roles, with demonstrable involvement in costing and pricing activities.
  • Strong understanding of cost structures, pricing models, and margin analysis.
  • Experience working with CRM systems and sales data.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; confident working with complex spreadsheets.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organised, methodical, and comfortable working with commercially sensitive data.
  • Experience in engineered-to-order or project-based sales environments.
  • Exposure to industrial, energy, process, or engineered equipment markets.
  • Familiarity with pricing governance, approval frameworks, and tender reviews.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, and finance.
  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent / near completion) in Business, Economics, Marketing, Engineering, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related discipline.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 07:30am to 16:00pm
Friday: 07:30am to 13:00pm
