Our well-established client based in Abingdon are looking for a Process Engineer to join their busy team!
Process Engineer Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design and improve manufacturing processes to boost efficiency, repeatability, and scalability.
- Lead end-to-end process changes with minimal disruption.
- Explore, assess, and apply advanced manufacturing and automation technologies, including cutting, welding, and forming.
- Support adoption in line with the Technology Roadmap while ensuring smooth integration across production.
- Create and manage structured plans for process improvements, new product launches, and tech rollouts.
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and scope, while aligning stakeholders and navigating change resistance.
- Define tooling, jig, and fixture requirements to meet production needs.
- Collaborate with internal teams and subcontractors to deliver solutions, backed by clear documentation for smooth implementation.
- Ensure new or updated processes meet quality, performance, and production standards.
- Address risks in capability, consistency, and manufacturability.
- Support seamless transition from development to production.
- Implement process improvements to reduce waste, enhance energy efficiency, and support sustainability goals, while managing their impact on production workflows.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, and Procurement teams to streamline process implementation.
- Serve as the main technical point of contact for customers on NPI projects, ensuring their needs are met during the transition from development to full production.
- Create and update detailed process documents, such as design records, specifications, calculations, and validation reports.
- Offer training and support to ensure seamless adoption of process changes across teams.
Process Engineer Ideal Candidate:
- Have strong project engineering skills, being able to manage projects.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience within sheet metal processes.
- Able to work independently.
- Have knowledge of welding, fabrication and metal forming.
- Hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in designing tooling, jigs and fixtures.
Process Engineer Working Hours and Benefits:
- Flexible working hours (core hours 10:00 - 15:00 Monday - Thursday, 09:00 - 12:00 Friday).
