Our client is looking for an Avionics Engineer who will be responsible for the management and delivery of Avionics and Electrical Engineering in an ambitious design, development and prototyping programme. The role will involve setting the direction for and management of a high-performance Avionics Engineering team and will require significant technical capability and knowledge, as well as the ability to deliver multiple products in a dynamic and fast-paced engineering environment.
Avionics Engineer Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead the avionics engineering life cycle through active management of resources and personnel.
- Assure the project scope for the design and development of products, through the TRL levels with handover to production at TRL 6/7.
- Seek safe and cost-effective design and manufacturing solutions to meet requirements, working to align designs to both Modini and regulatory engineering standards.
- Lead the continuous improvement of project delivery and the design management processes.
- Risk management and mitigation, including quality and safety.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to the role, including all standards and code compliance, and all planning and regulatory permissions.
- Ensure design and configuration management through the efficient application of company CAD systems.
- Status reporting and presenting effective documentation of electrical and avionics systems.
Avionics Engineer Ideal Candidate:
- Educated to bachelor’s degree/HND/HNC level in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Robotic, Motorsport, Automotive or Aeronautical all considered).
- C/C++ programming on embedded systems.
- Proficient in using UNIX based OS.
- Experience in designing both analog and digital electronics.
- Signal conditioning - experience in designing analogue and digital FIR/IIR filters.
- Knowledge of modern software development practices, standards, and commonly used communication systems, interfaces, and protocols such as SPI, I2C, async serial, RS232, RS485, CAN, HDMI, TCP/IP.
- Knowledge of CE requirements for electronic products.
- Good knowledge of appropriate project management processes and frameworks.
- Chartered Member of a recognised Engineering Institution highly desirable.
