Our client is looking for an experienced Machine Shop Technician to join their growing manufacturing team.

Machine Shop Technician Roles and Responsibilities

  • Set and operate CNC turning machinery to manufacture precision components
  • Operate conventional lathes, milling machines and other workshop equipment
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Select suitable tooling, fixtures and machining methods
  • Manufacture one-off, prototype and small-batch components
  • Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
  • Ensure all components meet required quality standards and specifications
  • Complete routine machine maintenance and daily equipment checks
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering and Inspection teams to resolve any manufacturing issues
  • Identify opportunities to improve machining processes and production efficiency
  • Support the introduction of suitable components from conventional machining to CNC
  • Help develop standard machining processes and best working practices
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
  • Support continuous improvement activities across the machine shop

Machine Shop Technician Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience setting and operating CNC machinery
  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Good knowledge of machining techniques, tooling and manufacturing processes
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with Haas CNC machinery (desirable)
  • CNC programming or editing experience (desirable)
  • Experience operating manual lathes and milling machines (desirable)
  • Experience manufacturing precision-engineered components (desirable)
  • Previous experience within aerospace or defence manufacturing (desirable)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 (desirable)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement (desirable)

Machine Shop Technician Working Hours

  • Monday – Thursday, 08:00 - 17:00 (8.5 hours)
  • Overtime available
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
